What do you know about Blue Radiation?
Blue light radiation is all around us. The sun emits blue light. So do light bulbs, mobile phones, computer screens, TVs, smart watches. It has a harmful effect on the skin and eyes and disturb our sleep because it affects melatonin levels.
The remarkable thing about blue radiation is that it has the ability to penetrate deeper into the skin - causing oxidative stress - than UV radiation. And without us even noticing it as we don't get hot or burned, by blue radiation, as with UV radiation. We are not aware of its presence and the damage it can cause to our skin, whether immediate or long-term. Studies have shown that blue light has the ability to activate genes associated with inflammation and photo-aging.
Widely known UV radiation is essentially made up of UVA (315-400 nm) and UVB (280-315 nm) rays. UVB penetrates only into our skin while some UVA penetrates deeper into the skin, reaching approximately the middle of the first layer of skin (dermis) underneath epidermis.
